With nearly 90 attendees, the event was a powerful testament to the flourishing entrepreneurial spirit in Idaho. Sherri Smith, owner of Tasty Touches Catering, says,

Spotlighting Success & Building Connections
The event kicked off with a vibrant showcase of local businesses, each adding a unique touch to the lively atmosphere. Attendees were in for a treat with author Lauren Burnett’s booth, Nana Says Studio. Sherri Smith of Tasty Touches Catering delighted everyone with refreshments, ensuring that guests were fed throughout the event. Kelsey Herbers from Frolic and Flash captured the energy of the day with her event photography. Meanwhile, Martha Martinez from Martinez Events Co. brightened the venue with her whimsical balloon displays. Attendees also enjoyed an exhibition of captivating artwork by artist Elizabeth Van Tassel, providing a glimpse into her creative world.

This included representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Idaho Commerce, the Idaho Veterans Chamber of Commerce, Buy Idaho, the Idaho Black Community Alliance, the Idaho Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and many more. These dynamic partnerships highlight the commitment to fostering collaboration and supporting Idaho’s thriving entrepreneurial landscape, making the event an inspiring hub for innovation and community connection. Helen Johnson, Business Lender of Zions Bank, states,

Special Guests and Keynote Speakers
The event featured a distinguished group of speakers, starting with Susan Perreault, Senior Vice President of Programs for Business Impact NW, who welcomed everyone with warm remarks. Paige Wiscombe, IWBC Program Director, shared her excitement and pride for the center’s opening. Paige emphasized the IWBC’s role as a launchpad for current and future women entrepreneurs. She says,
“This has been months of deep learning, outreach, building connections, and reintegration back into the community. And now, today, it finally feels officially official! This Grand Opening isn’t just a ribbon-cutting, it’s a celebration of the work that’s already happening and a launch pad for everything to come.”
Shannon Madsen, District Director for the Boise U.S. SBA District Office, highlighted women entrepreneurs in Idaho, stating,
“The impact of women entrepreneurs in Idaho is undeniable, with women owning 46.2% of all businesses in the state and driving economic growth in our communities. The launch of the Idaho Women’s Business Center is a transformational step in providing the essential resources, training, and mentorship needed to help more women start and grow their businesses successfully.”
The event also featured remarks from Domonique Juleon, Executive Vice President of Business Impact NW, and Kevin Arkoosh, the Southwest Idaho Regional Director for Senator James E. Risch. Attendees were treated to a video message from Senator Mike Crapo, expressing his strong support for the IWBC. The speeches culminated in an exciting ceremonial ribbon-cutting, complete with photographs, to celebrate the official launch of the IWBC’s operations. Following this momentous occasion, presenters eagerly engaged with local businesses for an additional 45 minutes, showcasing their initiatives and fostering valuable connections before the event drew to a close.
